Microsoft's market share drops for first time in three months.
Google Inc.'s share of U.S. Internet searches fell a slight 1% in March from a month earlier, according to data provider Experian Hitwise, as IAC/Interactive Corp.'s Ask.com share made a healthy increase, its fourth consecutive rise.Yahoo! Inc.'s share rose 3%, and Microsoft Corp.'s figure dropped for the first time in three months, also slipping 1%. The two launched their 10-year revenue-sharing partnership last month, under which Microsoft technology powers Yahoo's searches, aiming to challenge Google's dominance.Microsoft had been posting gains in share as it dipped into its deep pockets to promote its Bing engine.
Google's U.S. Internet-search share fell to 69.97% from 70.95%. Ask.com's climbed to 3.44% from 2.84%. Yahoo rose to 15.04% from 14.57%, while Microsoft's Bing dropped to 9.62% from 9.7%, according to Hitwise.Hitwise sampled 10 million U.S. Internet users in the month ended March 27.
